			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Composite film is widely used as food packaging material due to its superior barrier property, impact resistance and other mechanical properties better than mono film. This article discusses the composite packaging film for meat products.</p>
<p>The compound fastness between the mono layers of the composite packaging film is measured by the peel strength, which is one main property used to evaluate the quality of composite packaging film.</p>
<p>In practical application, if the peel strength of the composite film is too low, delamination may occur to the film after the content is packed inside the package. As a result, the barrier property as well as mechanical properties e.g. impact resistance of the packaging material may be compromised.</p>
<p>This article provides a simplified test method for the peel strength of the aluminum plastic composite package for meat products. The test specimens are provided by one meat product manufacturer. The testing instrument we used for the tests is Labthink’s <a title="C610H Auto Tensile Tester" href="https://en.labthink.com/en-us/product/c610h-auto-tensile-tester.html" target="_blank">C610H Auto Tensile Tester.</a></p>
<p>The tests shall be performed according to the following procedures.</p>
<p>(1)    Cut specimens from the sample material along machine direction and transverse direction. 5 pieces of specimens for each direction. The size of the specimen should be 200mm by 15mm.</p>
<p>(2)    Peel the specimen from one end by 50mm along the machine direction as is shown in the figure below.</p>
<p>(3) Clamp the two ends of the peeled part of the specimen with the upper and lower sample grips. Make sure the longitudinal axis of the specimen coincides with the line of centers of the uppwer and lower sample grips.</p>
<p>(4) Set test speed, specimen width and other test parameters.</p>
<p>(5) Click Test to start the test. The system will record the peeling forces in the testing process, calculate and display the final test results automatically.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Blister packaging is one of pre-formed plastic packaging, which is featured with high barrier property and widely used for protecting products against external factors, such as humidity and contamination for extended shelf life. Blister package usually has a backing of paperboard or a lidding seal of aluminum foil or plastic.</p>
<p>In medical industry, blister packaging is commonly used as unit-dose packaging for pharmaceutical tablets, capsules or lozenges. The medicines are held in the blister cavities, which  are separated medicines from each other. Even though one blister cavity is broken, others can keep intact. Therefore, heat seal strength of the paperboard or aluminum foil should be adequate. Otherwise when one tablet or capsule is removed from the blister package, other blister cavities may be broken and then medicine may be oxidized and damped. Therefore it is necessary to test the heat seal strength of the medical blister packaging to guarantee the quality of medicines contained inside.</p>

<p>Step 1: Seal the rigid PVC sheet and aluminum foil with Labthink <a href="https://en.labthink.com/en-us/product/hst-h3-heat-seal-tester.html" target="_blank">HST-H3 Heat Seal Tester</a> under specified conditions (sealing temperature 155±5℃, sealing pressure 0.5MPa, dwell time 1 second).</p>
<p>Step 2: Cut 3 pieces of specimens whose length should be 15mm.</p>
<p>Step 3: Mount the prepared specimen in the sample grips of <a href="https://en.labthink.com/en-us/product/xlw-intelligent-tensile-tester.html" target="_blank">XLW  Auto Tensile Tester</a>. Select test speed 200 mm/min and then start test. When test is finished, the instrument will calculate and record the test results automatically.</p>
<p>According to the test results given by the instrument, the manufacturer can determine whether the blister package can meet their requirements for packing of medicines.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Shampoo is a common daily chemical product, which is mainly used for the daily care of head skin and hair. The commonly used packaging forms include bottle and pouch. The pouch shampoo includes large volume and small volume. Small volume (e.g. 5ml) shampoo pouches are mostly for one use. This kind of pouch shampoo brings convenience to consumers; a common problem is that the pouch is not easy to tear open, which may diminish the convenience. In order to improve the tear performance of the pouch, a certain shape of tear notch is usually preset on the shampoo package. However, due to the large tear resistance of the packaging material itself or the weak interlayer composite, the tear notch is not easy to tear, or the outer layer and the inner layer is stretched and separated, which brings inconvenience. In addition, when using the shampoo, it is inevitable to splash water on the surface of the packaging pouch, thus increases the difficulty of tearing the packaging open. Therefore, it is an effective measure to improve the tear ability of shampoo packaging pouch by testing and controlling the tear performance of packaging materials.</p>

<p><strong>2. Test standard</strong></p>
<p>The test methods for tear performance of soft plastic packaging include right angle tear method, Trouser tear method and Elmendorf method. In this paper, the test samples are torn at the tear notch, according to the shape of the tear notch and the angle of force applied when being torn, the Trouser tear method is used to test the samples. The test standard is ISO 6383-1 Plastics — Film and sheeting — Determination of tear resistance — Part 1: Trouser tear method.</p>
<p><strong>3. Test sample</strong></p>
<p>In this test, a brand of shampoo packaging aluminum composite film was used as the test sample.</p>
<p><strong>4. Test instrument</strong></p>
<p>The test equipment used in this paper is XLW (PC) Auto tensile tester, which is independently developed and produced by Jinan Labthink Instruments Co., Ltd.</p>

<p>4.1 Test principle</p>
<p>The trouser tear test method refers to that the shape of the test sample is similar to &#8220;trouser&#8221;. Clamp two legs of the test sample in the upper and lower grips of the instrument. When the upper grip moves upward, one leg of the test sample will be pulled to tear the test sample along the long axis. The load cell and the displacement sensor record the load and displacement change during the tearing process and form a test curve, take the mean of the recorded force values as the tear force of the sample, and calculate the tear strength of the sample.</p>

<p><strong>5. Test process</strong></p>
<p>1)      Specimen: cut 5 specimens from the test sample in the direction of processing and against the process direction respectively. The size of the specimen is 150 × 50 mm, the length of the slit in the center of the specimen shall be 75.0 mm. The test specimen shall be cut so that the edges are smooth and free from notches.</p>
<p>2)      Conditioning: place the test specimen in a condition of 23℃. 50%RH for 4 hours.</p>
<p>3)      Measure the thickness: measure three spots on the specimen in equal interval and take the average value of the three measurements.</p>
<p>4)      Parameters settings: set specimen name, thickness, test speed, number of specimens and other parameters.</p>
<p>5)      Start the test: clamp the two legs of the specimen on the upper and lower grips of the instrument, click “start” to start the test.</p>
<p>6)      End test: when the test is completed, the instrument displays the tear force and tear strength. Repeat the above steps to test the rest of the specimens.</p>
<p><strong>6. Test result</strong></p>
<p>The longitudinal tear strength of the sample tested in this test is 11.465 kN / m, and the transverse tear strength is 8.027 kN / m.</p>
<p><strong>7. Conclusion</strong></p>
<p>The easiness of tearing open a shampoo pouch is an important factor of the convenient use. In this paper, XLW (PC) auto tensile tester is used to test the trouser tear strength of a brand of shampoo’s aluminum coated composite film packaging sample. The test process is simple and the instrument is easy to operate. In addition to tear force, the oxygen resistance, sealing performance, composite fastness, heat sealing strength and other properties of the packaging bag should also be tested to prevent the oxidation, deterioration, leakage and bag breaking of shampoo.</p>

The anti-static packaging bag is an important anti-static measure taken in the transportation of electrostatic sensitive products. Its principle is to form a Faraday cage induction cover effect in the bag, to isolate the electrostatic field outside the bag, the electrostatic discharge of personnel and equipment, and the influence of electromagnetic radiation on the inside, and to prevent damage to the packed products caused by electrostatic discharge. It is important to ensure the anti-static packaging bag is not break and intact so it can fully play its anti-static function. Therefore, the packaging materials should have good puncture resistance.</p>
<p><strong>Test Sample</strong></p>
<p>In this test, an anti-static packaging bag is used as the test sample, and the puncture strength is tested to characterize the ability of the sample to withstand external force puncture.</p>
<p><strong>Standard </strong></p>
<p>The test process of puncture strength of soft plastic packaging materials refers to the regulations regarding puncture strength in GB/T10004-2008 “Plastic laminated films and pouches for packaging -dry lamination and extrusion lamination”.</p>
<p><strong>Test Instrument</strong></p>
<p>In this test, XLW (PC) Auto tensile tester is used as the test instrument, which is independently developed and produced by Jinan Labthink Instruments Co., Ltd.</p>
<p>Test Principle</p>
<p>The puncture strength is a certain value of force required for puncturing a sample. During the test, the sample is fixed in the lower grip which remains still, the puncture needle is installed in the upper grip of the equipment, the upper grip can move up and down according to the set speed, and the load cell and displacement transducer are equipped. The upper grip drives the puncture needle to move towards the sample according to the set speed, and penetrates the sample gradually. The load cell records the value change of the force with the displacement during the puncture process in real time, so as to obtain the puncture strength and the deformation during the puncture.</p>

<p><strong>Test Process </strong></p>
<p>(1) Use a sampler to cut 5 specimens with a diameter of 100 mm from the surface of the sample to be tested.</p>
<p>(2) Install the puncture needle in the upper grip of the equipment, and take one specimen and clamp it in the lower grip.</p>
<p>(3) Set the parameters such as sample name, test speed and test times in the control software of the equipment, and click the “test” to start the test. The upper grip moves and penetrates the test according to the set parameters, the test is completed, and the equipment displays the test results.</p>
<p>(4) Replace the specimen and continue the test until all 5 samples are tested.</p>
<p><strong>Test Result</strong></p>
<p>Take the arithmetic mean value of the test results of five samples as the puncture strength value of the anti-static packaging bag, which is 10.876N.</p>
<p><strong>Conclusion </strong></p>
<p>Puncture resistance performance is an important performance index of anti-static packaging bag. In this paper, the puncture strength of the sample was tested by an intelligent electronic tensile testing machine to characterize its puncture resistance. The test process is simple, the equipment is easy to operate, the accuracy and repeatability is high, and the test result is accurate and reliable, which can reflect the puncture resistance of the tested samples. In addition to testing puncture strength, the equipment used in this paper can also test the tensile properties, composite fastness, heat sealing strength, tear strength and other properties of soft plastic packaging materials, which is high cost-effective equipment.</p>
